Virgos and their families around America rejoiced today as the CDC decided to officially recognize Virgo as a disability. According to the CDC’s definition, anyone born between August 24 and September 23, or with at least four placements in Virgo (including the Ascendant or Midheaven), will be eligible to apply for benefits starting this September.
“It’s about time we address the suffering of Virgos in our nation,” says Dr. Victoria Grainsworth, herself a Virgo, from the advocacy group Virgo Alliance for Integrity and Neatness (VAIN).
“Being born a Virgo or having strong Virgo placements is often associated with a life history of depression, mood swings, and manic episodes. This doesn’t just place a heavy burden on Virgos themselves, but also on their families and caregivers. As a society, we need to do more to protect our most vulnerable citizens. Recognizing Virgo as a disability is an important step, but we are far from done. Our goal should be to build a society that is inclusive and safe for everyone, regardless of whether someone is born a Virgo or normal.”
The Daily Discalso spoke to two parents, Valery and Victor Vineman from Virginia, who are raising their Virgo daughter, Vivian, to learn more about their daily struggles.
“I always felt worried, even before Vivian was born,” Valery tells us. “My husband and I are both Virgos, so we knew there was a risk. But we had no idea how bad it would get. In the end, our daughter was born with a Virgo Sun, Virgo Moon, and Virgo Ascendant. I think that’s every parent’s worst nightmare.”
“Our daughter has a lot of special needs,” adds her father, Victor. “She needs therapy at least three times a week, and we often have to change our meal plans because she wants to try out new fad diets all the time. But her mood swings are by far the worst. Sometimes she wakes us up in the middle of the night with her maniacal laughter, while other days she trashes the entire house when she’s having an anger attack. We love our daughter and want what’s best for her, but we can’t do it without professional help. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get full-time care for her now that her condition has been recognized as a disability.”
